Senior Wellness Alert Security System
Use an Emergency Response System to Care for Family
Caring for senior family members can be a sensitive topic. There are many state-of-the-art facilities in the Edina, Minnesota area that can care for aging parents or relatives who need specialized care. However, placing a loved one in an assisted living facility isn’t always the best or only option. Today, we have the amazing advantage of using technology to monitor family members and respond quickly. Our emergency response systems are perfect for keeping an eye on your loved one, whether they live next door, or in another state. Keep reading to learn how you can use your smart home to care for seniors or loved ones with disabilities.
Minnesota Security offers an affordable solution for greater safety and peace of mind allowing your senior family member to live independently. A more comprehensive solution than traditional personal emergency response (PERS) wearable pendants, wellness monitoring is a safety net providing a more complete view of a loved one’s wellness. Here are some examples of how the system works.
Real-time Alerts
Alarm.com systems learn the activity patterns of your loved ones and monitor them daily. If there is ever a change, you’ll get a text or email instantly alerting you of the event. For example, if your mom leaves the house at an unusual time, doesn’t open the medication cabinet, or leaves the door open, you’ll know immediately. Not only do these alerts monitor a person’s actions, but they also check environmental factors, like if there is a fire, flood, break-in, carbon monoxide leak, or extreme temperatures. For example, in the event of a fire, your smoke detector will send a notification to your phone, and also the alarm.com monitoring station. As you are going home to check on your loved one, the local firemen are responding as well. We can install water sensors to any vulnerable area in your house: under the sink, in the basement, behind the washing machine to let you (or a plumber) know exactly where a leak is coming from.
Video Camera Logs
While sensors monitor and record events in the house, video cameras capture the images in vivid color and high definition. If you ask your mom, “did you take your pills today?” and she says yes, you can actually review camera footage to make sure it happened. Live video camera feeds also allow you to check in on the person to make sure they are ok. If anything goes wrong, you can review the video logs later and use it for insurance claims or to learn more about the situation. Files are uploaded to the cloud so you can securely review the video from anywhere.
Remote Access
Of course security is top of mind when we install our alarm systems. Remote access helps protect your loved one by giving you wireless controls via a smartphone or tablet. You can lock and unlock doors with your phone and arm or disarm the security system anytime, anywhere. It’s one thing knowing about what’s going on in your family member’s house; it’s entirely another thing being able to respond immediately and take action.
